Frau Flik Gallery is proud to exhibit the very special and unique art works of Ron Posthuma. Ron makes discarded scrap metal and loose parts into beautiful and striking sculptures, light objects, furniture and decorations.
His famous Fire Places have attracted attention all over Holland and appeared at many festivals and exhibitions. His huge pop-icon paintings have sold throughout the world and his festival installation "Ron's Lounge" made from a HGV trailer which had a live music stage, bar and cafe in it has been the jewel in many a festival throughout Holland and Germany.
His "Light Objects" series is attracting the most attention at the Catawiki Auctions lately. He is making a collection of vintage camera lamps, mixed with scrap brass and bronze and inspired by the Steam Punk art scene and they are selling fast. He takes great pride in getting every little detail just right by combining parts from shower cables, spark plugs and other discarded scrap metal and copper that you would never guess where it originates. Ron hunts down these perfect little pieces from all over the place and puts them into their new life as works of art.
You can see the crazy and creative character of Ron in his videos, pictures and music. His style and sense of humour shines in whatever he makes. Very inspired by musical icons Lou Reed and Nick Cave, Ron loves to sing and write lyrics and his collaboration with a Hungarian Gypsy and a Drifter from Liverpool made the great musical chemistry that is Three Wise Men'. They made, and still do, some nice recordings that blend their tastes together in a unique and distinctive sound. Collin Jones.
